11th December 2017 - Note from the President

You were given a little teaser last week about the 14 January and this is why;

We have teamed up with Blackford Curling Club to organise a charity bonspiel in memory of Bill Lennox and Ian Stewart who were both stalwart members of both clubs.

We hope to fill all 8 rinks at Dewars at 11.15am on the 14th followed by lunch also hosted at Dewars.

To this and we would urge all curlers past and present who knew Bill and Ian to come along and enjoy a light hearted bonspiel and a plate of haggis, keeps and tatties! We are sure Bill and Ian would approve.

If you want to get involved please get in touch with John Best of Muthill CC or Alan Lambie of Blackford CC.

6th December 2017 - Note from the President

Keep your eye out for a significant message which might well be out before the weekend. All you need to do just now is keep Sunday 14 January free......

5th December 2017 - Upper Strathearn Presidents Bonspiel

Well done to the Muthill rink of Stuart Thomson, Cammy Gauld, John Best and Michele Hartley who won the Upper Strathearn Presidents Bonspiel with a victory over Auchterarder.

A combination of great sweeping by Stuart & Cammy and some fine shots by Michele plus good skip decisions meant that the team took 5 of the 7 ends played and managed a 4 and a 5.

A very nice trophy was presented to Michele by the Upper Strathearn President - our very own John Steven with the Bonspiel being organised by Stewart Combe. Quite a night for Muthill.

Let's keep it up!

4th December 2017 - Kettle game

Kettle game tonight, John Steven v Una Woodburn.

One or two subs out tonight so thanks to Bill, Glenn and Tommy for turning out.

Good game and closer than the final score would indicate but it turned out to be a win for Una's team ably skipped by James Thomson in the absence of Una.

As always there was good banter on the ice and an enjoyable and productive chat up the stairs afterwards.

28th November 2017 - Upper Strathearn v Methven 1

A comfortable 10 - 0 win tonight in the Upper Strathearn league against Methven 1 keeps Muthill top of the league after four matches.

Skip James Thomson assisted by Glen Thomson, John Steven and Nick Morley won every end in a match where each team member had the edge over their opposite and Methven had little luck.

Four ends won with a single stone and two with 3 scoring.

27th November 2017 - Gents v Ladies Match

Well played to the ladies who won the annual Ladies v Gents game by 8 to 5.

The ladies team of Fiona Thomson, Una Woodburn, Ruth MacKay and Michele Hartley all played very well to retain the trophy for another year. The gents team of Kerr Johnston, Tommy Watt, John Steven and John Best had no answer to the guile and cunning of the ladies came back well to take the game.

Even the added bite of husband v wife rivalry could not take the gents through to victory.

It was a very enjoyable game played in excellent spirit and I think we all enjoyed the fun of one of our annual matches.
